What this page covers

I work with many patients who have Carelon coverage. Carelon participation and behavioral health benefits vary by state, individual plan, eligibility, and the way your employer or health plan administers care.

I verify benefits before your first visit and share what can be confirmed from the information available. You remain in control of whether and when to schedule, and your plan remains responsible for the final coverage decision.

Before your first visit

How insurance works with us

To review Carelon benefits, I may request your member ID, group number, date of birth, and the state where you will be located for the telehealth visit. We look at outpatient behavioral health, telehealth eligibility, expected cost-sharing, and any authorization requirements.

Carelon or your underlying health plan can give the final answer about coverage. I will help you understand the verification information, but it is wise to ask member services how your plan will process the exact service before care begins.

Questions worth asking

What patients should verify

A focused benefits check can help you plan with more confidence. Ask about:

  • 01Outpatient behavioral health telehealth coverage
  • 02Benefits for evaluation and medication management
  • 03Your copay, coinsurance, and deductible
  • 04Prior authorization, referral, or visit limits
  • 05Eligibility for the state where you will receive care

Carelon FAQs

Does Carelon coverage include online psychiatric care?

That depends on the plan and your eligibility. I work with many patients who have Carelon coverage, and I verify the specific benefits before your first appointment rather than making a universal claim.

Is Carelon coverage tied to my employer plan?

It can be. The behavioral health administrator, employer plan, and state may all shape your benefits. The member-services number and plan name on your card will help identify the right rules.

Can I still contact you if I do not know my benefits?

Absolutely. Tell me what is on your card and where you are located. I can explain the information needed for verification, and you can ask Carelon or your plan about anything that requires their direct confirmation.
